Automotive Suppliers and agile Processes.

Agile in name only?

CONTENT

For European suppliers, current megatrends in the car industry represent challenges on a huge scale: autonomous driving, connected cars, electric vehicles… In organisational terms, introducing agile processes is the current solution du jour for companies looking to keep up. In this paper, Hanns Peter Beckerlink looks behind the hype and comes to the conclusion that implementing agile methodology is a necessary step, but one that is not in and of itself sufficient for a real transformation into being an agile organisation.

We have structured our analysis into three main blocks:
- INITIAL CONDITIONS: What are the characteristics of complex development projects in Automotive and how do these interact with and modify agile methodology?
- CURRENT SITUATION: How are suppliers attempting to implement their agile transformation – and what can we learn from these initiatives?
- FUTURE ENVIRONMENT: How does the organisation and its environment need to be changed in order to support an agile transformation?
