A successful expedition to the future: intensive creative workshop at Phoenix Contact.
Here’s the challenge: how will Phoenix Contact, worldwide market leader and innovation champion in electronics, need to develop its business in order to remain successful going into the future? To find the answer, the company staged a high-calibre creative workshop, inviting Tim Ehrich (Managing Consultant a e&Co.) as one of their five external experts. Known for its unconventional approach, the Swiss firm Brainstore was in charge of organising the event in which 70-80 members of staff from various departments and disciplines went on an expedition into the future, working at speed to generate 5,000 “inspirations”. They then used this mass of ideas to shape 230 specific ideas, which were in turn rated by all of the participants. By the end, the ten best future business models had been selected, and Tim Ehrich then rounded off this exciting workshop with a talk on the future of mobility which enthralled his audience.
“This was a fantastic expedition into the future: with this intensive workshop, Phoenix Contact has shown just what a dynamic approach its staff can take to designing new business models with additional input from external experts. It was a pleasure to see the enthusiasm and enjoyment with which staff generated both improvements to processes and, what is more, a lot of very specific approaches to new internet-of-things business models in which we at e&Co. see a lot of potential. It was a great day at Phoenix Contact in Schieder - and I am sure that the company will benefit from the numerous highly valuable ideas and approaches which were developed during the event."
